Hi-Fi Moble Sound... never the Lo-Fi

Taking on the new hobby of hula hooping this past year made me want to bring music with me to the park... or anywhere I want to go where there is plenty of wide open space for me to hoop.

My immediate solution was a lo-fi Roland 12w Street Cube that can run off 6 rechargeable AA batteries. I threw this in a basket on my bike rack and took off with my hula hoop tied on around my neck with a scarf. This system works, but isn't ideal. I got sore from riding in one formation to keep the hoop comfortable while I peddled, and the Street Cube didn't get loud enough over the traffic of the city. Naturally, a trailer is the way to go for a proper hoop mount and a larger speaker.

I fell in love with a 1000w speaker made by QSC called the K10. It is a self powered two channel monster that is only 26 lbs. Thank Jesus that speaker is light because the battery to power that sucker is 46 lbs! Oh, yeah, and don't forget the inverter, another 23 lbs because it has to bear a maximum surge load of 2500w.

I'm still early in the build and haven't even turned the beast on yet, but I'm aiming to debut BoomZilla on the July 8 East Bay Bike Party ride. Look for us, we'll be covered in fur bearing our teeth!
